ANA & REID – PART ONE

With her sweet southern like charm and stunning looks, it’s no wonder Ana won Reid’s heart.  Ana grew up in Los Angeles but as fate would have it, she moved out to Dallas where a mutual friend introduced her to Reid. They feel deeply in love for one another and were soon engaged.  Two years later they were saying “I do” at Mary, Star of the Sea, a little Catholic chapel in La Jolla, CA.

Mary, Star of the Sea was the chosen location for their romantic ceremony because it had special meaning to Ana and her family, as this is the same church Ana’s two brothers were baptized in many years before.  While Ana and Reid were visiting San Diego they visited the Grand Del Mar and feel in love with the regal sophisticated beauty of the grand property and in particular the stunning Capella Chapel at the Grand Del Mar.  They decided that this would be the ideal place for them to have their reception… and that it was. read more

RHAPSODY IN BLOOM

EXQUISITE WEDDINGS MAGAZINE FALL 2013

Monarch Weddings is  so proud to see our Rhapsody in Bloom tabletop design in the Fall 2013 Issue of Exquisite Weddings Magazine.  It was wonderful to collaborate with Bethany of Splendid Sentiments Floral Design and Concepts Event Design on this vibrant, modern, whimsical meets a touch of rustic themed table top.

The design process started with a few of my favorite flowers, the Coral “Charm” Peony, Purple Phalaenopsis, and the blush Cafe Au Lait Dahlia. An unlikely combination of colors & florals. Then for the furniture pieces, I loved the chic modern lines and clean look of the white throne chair & side chairs from Concepts Event Design, but wanted a little more whimsy and earthiness, so used a juxtaposing element of a farm table (Concepts Event Design).   The vibrant and contrasting colors of the flowers  really popped against the clean white pieces.  Then for an additional touch of whimsy, I added in monarch butterflies. nestled in different areas and created full butterfly wing place-mats. Layering each place-mat with “faux” butterfly wings.   Then added a white Moroccan style frame  from Z Gallery for another layer of charger and a gold charger plate on top of that which looked butterfly wings up close. PART 2 {THE CELEBRATION!}

The rolling hills in the background and the sun slowly setting provided the perfect backdrop for the heartfelt first dance and father/daughter dance.   While the delicious, organic food prepared  by caterer A Perfect Everytime Catering was a huge hit for everyone – it was not only visually appealing, it was extremely fresh and flavorful! YUM!!

PART 1 {CEREMONY}

Kelly and Matt were such a  joy to work with. It was fun planning their rustic shabby chic wedding at the Del Sur Ranch House in Santa Luz.  This  San Diego wedding was beautiful, intimate, and a perfect reflection of their easy going, natural, clean, but chic styles.   Their family was so helpful to the couple  and set up the white fabric draping, lighting and other items.  Everyone, of course including Monarch Weddings team, pulled together to make sure Kelly and Matt had their dream wedding .  There was so much joy and love in the air… it was palatable. read more
