ALEXANDRA & JOHN
HOTEL DEL CORONADO, CORONADO, CA
PART 1 – PRE-CEREMONY AND CEREMONY
This whimsical nautical themed wedding was so much fun to plan and design. Of course, it helps when you have a fun and fabulous bride like I did in Allie. She was willing to be a little more bold with some of the design decisions, she didn’t play it too safe, which would have been easy to do. Allie has a wonderful sense of style, as you will see from her vintage inspired wedding gown and her flirty second dress for the reception. We loved that she wanted to opt for the navy blue roped linens from La Tavola, which helped pull the entire look together and added the touch of whimsy, as well as nautical. The Design process started with the brides love for vintage and nautical, which fit perfect for the Hotel Del Coronado. Then we took some of the brides favorite colors (blush, green, blue) and her willingness to step outside the box to be a bit playful and it all grew from there. It was truly such a fun process. I wish more brides would do a themed wedding!
How about stunning royal blue Badgley Mischka bridal shoes for your something blue?
Or How about these stunning vintage inspired tear drop blue sapphire earrings for your something blue?
I love how they bring out the blue in Allie’s eye!
Change of dress for the reception… Why Not! Make it playful, sparkly, and beautiful!
Splendid Sentiments Floral Design really pull in the vintage romance and softness with their beautiful floral centerpieces which had a love knot tied on the stem of the glass vase (shown in part 2 – Celebration) blog. Using a beautiful color pallet of soft blush, whites, pops of medium spinks, and soft greenery gave it a modern twist on vintage. The bouquet was stunning…as you will see below!
It’s all in the details! Use items like these fun, playful themed decor elements help tie the nautical look together.
We loved the fun, creative and playful paper elements by Brightly Designed, such as the shell shaped program, passport for a place-card, and later in Part 2 the Celebration you will see Famous Explorers for table names on sailor knots. I had fun adding in some additional touches of this adorable nautical theme with a ships wheel, a vintage looking map box for the programs and envelopes, large starfish, colored glass bottles with fishnet, and a mini old voyage sailing ship. It’s so much fun designing & planning a themed wedding… you can take it as far as you want it to go.
