Nina and Dan were such a sweet couple to work with and their beautiful intimate wedding with 50 of their closest friends and family really reflected them in every way, as you will see in this post. We blended their together… we took his more rustic style and her soft romantic aesthetic by using interesting rustic textures with soft florals and a warm soft color pallet. Splendid Sentiments created very unique centerpieces combining drift-wood in the upright position with greenery (such a hanging amarantus) and romantic roses and other lush florals at the base and floral clusters throughout. For additional romantic ambiance, we added hanging candles & lots of gold mercury votive candles to the table. The color pallet was soft & romantic, using blush, soft sherbet oranges, soft pinks, and touches of white, which really gave this rustic look a more feminine touch. The Cafe Au Lait Dahlias were such a pretty floral for these pieces, giving them a soft but very interesting texture. To round out the romantic look and feel, we paired the floral elements with a soft blush linen and napkin and glass and gold beaded charger plate from Concept Event Design. Darin Fong did an excellent job of capturing the softness and beauty of this intimate Lodge at Torrey Pines wedding.

This whimsical nautical themed wedding was so much fun to plan and design. Of course, it helps when you have a fun and fabulous bride like I did in Allie. She was willing to be a little more bold with some of the design decisions, she didn’t play it too safe, which would have been easy to do. Allie has a wonderful sense of style, as you will see from her vintage inspired wedding gown and her flirty second dress for the reception. We loved that she wanted to opt for the navy blue roped linens from La Tavola, which helped pull the entire look together and added the touch of whimsy, as well as nautical. The Design process started with the brides love for vintage and nautical, which fit perfect for the Hotel Del Coronado. Then we took some of the brides favorite colors (blush, green, blue) and her willingness to step outside the box to be a bit playful and it all grew from there. It was truly such a fun process. I wish more brides would do a themed wedding!
This beautiful blush, black and white very classic glam wedding at La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla was full of love, laughter and pure joy for this young couple and their family! Sarah (Bride) knew she wanted a romantic classic feel to her wedding with soft touches of glam, so we mixed elements of lace (Jennifer Cole Florals wrapped her bridal bouquet with left over fabric from her dress (makes for a perfect match), then we had lace covered columns at the ceremony and lace chair back covers at their sweetheart table, subtle touches of crystal bling on the centerpieces, all the soft romantic florals (roses) and the soft pink/blush with black and white pallet, which complimented the venue space and especially the black and white checkered floor & crystal chandeliers in the Verandah Terrace at the La Valencia hotel.

Monarch Weddings is so proud to see our Rhapsody in Bloom tabletop design in the Fall 2013 Issue of Exquisite Weddings Magazine. It was wonderful to collaborate with Bethany of Splendid Sentiments Floral Design and Concepts Event Design on this vibrant, modern, whimsical meets a touch of rustic themed table top.
The design process started with a few of my favorite flowers, the Coral “Charm” Peony, Purple Phalaenopsis, and the blush Cafe Au Lait Dahlia. An unlikely combination of colors & florals. Then for the furniture pieces, I loved the chic modern lines and clean look of the white throne chair & side chairs from Concepts Event Design, but wanted a little more whimsy and earthiness, so used a juxtaposing element of a farm table (Concepts Event Design). The vibrant and contrasting colors of the flowers really popped against the clean white pieces. Then for an additional touch of whimsy, I added in monarch butterflies. nestled in different areas and created full butterfly wing place-mats. Layering each place-mat with “faux” butterfly wings. Then added a white Moroccan style frame from Z Gallery for another layer of charger and a gold charger plate on top of that which looked butterfly wings up close. Polished off the place setting with a beautiful designed menu from J Grace.
As a San Diego native, Balboa Park has been a long time favorite places to visit in San Diego. When I was young, my mom would take us kids down to Balboa Park to walk around and see all the beautiful sites of the Park and Museums. I feel in love with the beautiful architecture, the sites and sounds, and the experience of learning more about San Diego’s history. As I began my journey as an event planner, The Prado at Balboa Park was a popular event spot and I was blessed to have opportunities to manage weddings at the venue. The Prado at Balboa Park quickly became one of my favorite venues to manage events at in San Diego.
It was such an honor to have the wonderful opportunity to work with this adorable fun loving couple (Nick and Jackie). As you will see from the images captured by True Photography, this was such a vibrant, pretty and really FUN wedding.
After the ceremony at the Wishing Well, guests enjoyed cocktails & delicious appetizers while listening to the sounds of a Mariachi band playing in the Courtyard. Then moving inside the Prado Ballroom, It’s easy to see from the images captured… the energy of this wedding was… fun… fun…fun!!!

Both bridal parties got ready at the Marriott Downtown San Diego then a stretched limo over to the Prado at Balboa Park for the pre-ceremony photos, First Look, ceremony and reception. At the end of the evening, many guests and the entire bridal party ended up back at the Marriott for the fun “after-party”.
